“I have marveled for years at Gerard Malanga’s articulate endurance as a poet. In short, he reminds me as do few others of what poets might be in a common-world if only they could or would.” – Robert Creeley
Gerard Malanga writes poetry every day of his life. He goes to his favorite morning spot, reads the NY Times, and throughout the day poetry goes from his mind to paper.
Gerard is the author of over a dozen books of poetry spanning a 50-year period, including 2019’s “Cool and other things" (Bottle of Smoke Press). He was already a published poet before he went to work for Andy Warhol in 1963. His work has appeared in Poetry, Yale Review, Harvard Review, Paris Review, Raritan, Partisan Review and The New Yorker. In 2014, he was named the Official Poet of the annual Glasgow Arts International.
He is the co-author (with Victor Bockris) of Up-Tight: The Velvet Underground Story. Malanga recently completed his memoirs, In Remembrance of Things Past.
